Freedom is rarely taken from us all at once. It is traded slowly, in small agreements made to stay acceptable to people whose approval we never consciously chose to need.
Most people are not living someone else's life dramatically. They are living it in fragments: a career shaped by expectation, a personality edited for a room, a preference quietly abandoned because it was inconvenient to explain.
The work is not rebellion. Rebellion is still a reaction. The work is noticing where the edit happens, and asking whether you still agree with the reason for it.
